White PRO card phase out

The JIB-PMES has undertaken work to begin phasing out its white Plumbing Related Occupation (PRO) cards. This is necessary in order for us to meet the CSCS and Construction Leadership Council (CLC) requirements in terms of ensuring that appropriate qualifications (at a minimum standard of NVQ L2 or equivalent) are identified for each occupation by 2020.

Work has commenced to map a framework which will be used during the process to identify appropriate pathways for existing PRO occupations so that they may be directed to relevant qualifications. This process will entail combining certain closely matched occupations into logical groupings and also aligning other occupations to existing JIB-PMES card categories (e.g. Plumber, Heating Fitter, Mechanical Pipefitter etc.)

We would like to reassure all existing white PRO card holders that their current card will remain valid until its stated expiry date.

The stages and timescales for the phase out are summarised below:

1.) Publish PRO guidance to the website April 2019
2.) Date from which JIB-PMES will start accepting applications for newly mapped PRO occupations 01st October 2019
3.) Final date for acceptance of NEW white PRO card applications (in accordance with existing white PRO card application procedures) 29th November 2019
4.) Final date for acceptance of white PRO card renewal applications (in accordance with existing white PRO card renewal procedures) 31st March 2020
5.) Closure of all white PRO card application routes 01st April 2020

We will endeavour to ensure this section of the website is regularly updated to keep white PRO card holders informed on this development as best we can.
